Meghalaya (Abode of Clouds in Sanskrit) is one of the seven North-Eastern states of India. Famous for its high rainfall, subtropical forests and biodiversity, it is abutted by Assam in the north and east and by Bangladesh in the south. The River Brahmaputra (or Luit as called locally) forms the border in the west. Is Meghalaya good for tourists? There are numerous Meghalaya tourist places that are well-known all over the world as it boasts some of the most spectacular waterfalls like Nohkalikai Falls, Elephant Falls, and Mawlynnong Falls; the longest caves like Krem Liat Prah and Mawsmai Caves; and the wettest places in the world like Cherrapunji and Mawsynram.

Its a Shillong(3N) and Cherrapunji(2N) trip in which you will stay for 3 nights in Shillong and discover the beauty of Shillong and after that 2 night stay in Cherrapunji to feel the best vibes there. We will cove the following places:

Itinerary

  • Welcome to Awesome Assam. Meet and be assisted by our representative at the airport/Railway Station.
  • Proceed to Shillong, also called & Scotland of the East.
  • Reach the majestic Umium Lake (Barapani). You may do the water sports here (Optional).
  • On arrival at Shillong, check in at your hotel.
  • Evening you can visit Police Bazaar which the biggest local market.
  • Overnight stay in Shillong.

  • After breakfast we proceed to Laitlum Canyons for some breathtaking views. We then visit Krang Suri Falls. It is one of the best waterfalls in Meghalaya. You can also swim in a naturally formed pool here. You can also go behind the waterfall and see the water falling in front of you.
  • After Lunch return back to Shillong.
  • Visit Don Bosco Centre for Indigenous Cultures, Ward & Lake where you can enjoy boating, Cathedral Catholic Church and Lady Hydari Park.
  • Overnight in Shillong.

  • After breakfast visit Mawsynram which as per the new geological reports receives the highest rainfall in the world. The area is known for its many caves.
  • Later visit Mawphlang Sacred Grove. It is one of the biggest Sacred Groves in Meghalaya.It is a well preserved forest by local community. Nothing can be taken out from the forest as this is being protected by the local deities. Visit Khasi model village.
  • Evening return to Shillong. Visit Elephanta Falls and Shillong Peak for some breathtaking views.
  • Overnight stay in Shillong

  • After breakfast visit Mawlynnong Village the cleanest village in India.
  • This cute and colorful little village is known for its cleanliness. It is situated 90 kms. from Shillong and besides the picturesque village, offers many interesting sights such as the Living Root Bridge and another strange natural phenomenon of a boulder balancing on another rock.
  • Visit Dawki, It is along the Indo-Bangladesh border.
  • You can enjoy boating in the crystal clear waters of the Umgnot River.
  • Evening we will proceed to Cherrapunji.
  • Overnight in Cherrapunji

  • Get up early today to enjoy the mesmerizing mornings of Cherrapunji. Visit Eco Park, Dainthlen Falls, Nohkalikai Falls, Nohsngithiang Falls (Seven Sisters Falls), Mawsmai Cave, Thangkharang Park.
  • Overnight stay in Cherrapunji.
  • Optional - We proceed for a full day trekking to the Double Decker Living Root Bridge at Nongriat Village.
  • We have to trek down 3200 steps approximately each way to the Double Decker Living Root Bridge. We can further trek down to the Rainbow Falls which take about 60 to 90 minutes from the Double Decker
  • Living Root Bridge.

  • After breakfast today Proceed to Guwahati
  • Enroute visit Kamakhya Temple and with everlasting memories transfer to airport/railway station for onward journey.

Things to Carry for Meghalaya

  • Carry your sun protection with you such as a hat, sunscreen lotion and sunglasses.
  • Carry your Warm clothes.

  • While entering the monasteries, take off your shoes. Do not smoke in the premises of Monasteries. Avoid touching the statues and thangkas.
  • Be more civilized and ask before clicking a picture of the inhabitants and their belongings.
  • Do not litter around the tour routes or the camp sites. Please handover all the wrappers, plastic bags etc. to the driver after the completion of tour or Use proper Dustbin.
  • Flash photography is prohibited inside the monasteries. So, don’t use flash inside the monasteries.
  • Carry boiled or purified water during your tour.
  • Try not to take carry plastic bags, it will harm environment if it's come in contact with it.
  • Do not tease or disturb the wildlife during your visit.

Meghalaya Policies

● Full Payment of the trip cost must be made before the trip begins. Pending
Payments may eventually lead to the Cancellation of the trip.
● The IDs shall all be verified before boarding. No boarding shall be
entertained without a valid Govt. ID.
● The Transfer of the bookings is not permitted. Only the names mentioned
at the time of confirmation shall be allowed to travel.
● No refunds shall be made towards any inclusion(s) not availed by the Client.
● Travelers must take care of their luggage & belongings. The management
shall not be responsible for any damage or any missing items along the
tour.
● The time of Departure is stated & fixed. All travelers must update their
status with the Trip coordinator(s), & report at the pickup point 30 mins
prior to the scheduled departure.
● The Air Conditioning will be switched off in the hills. Also, during the trip, it
shall be the Driver’s discretion to put off the AC as & when required,
considering the travelers’ safety & ease of travel along uneven & dangerous
routes.
● Our time of departure is fixed and must depart by the stated time & keep
their status updated with the trip coordinator(s). Anyone missing the bus
shall not be eligible for any refunds. We shall call you twice before the
schedule departure.
● Drinking & Smoking are strictly prohibited along the tour due to health &
safety concerns. Our tours involve physically demanding activities such as
trekking, camping at high altitudes and we recommend for you to be in
the right shape to make most of them.
● No act of misconduct or indiscipline shall be tolerated on the tours. We are
a cordial travel community and we aspire to bring to you a hassle free and
memorable experience.
● Bagpackaro shall not be responsible for any delays or alterations in the
program or indirectly incurred expenses in cases such as Natural Hazards,
accident, breakdown of machinery, weather conditions, landslides, political
closure or any untoward incidents.
● We do not provide any insurance policy to cover for the expenditure on
sickness or accidents or losses incurred due to theft or other reasons.
● Numerous factors such as weather and road conditions, the physical ability
of participants etc. may bring alteration in the itinerary. We reserve the
